Optional field trips

Field trip 1: 20 – 22 September 2024
We will discuss low-temperature serpentinization and related processes during a visit of the hyperalkaline springs in the Ronda peridotite massif.

Field trip 2: 26 – 27 September 2024
We will visit the Almirez massif (Sierra Nevada, Spain), the world’s unique exposure of the high-pressure serpentine dehydration front to prograde harzburgite. The perfect place to learn and discuss about the role of serpentinites in subduction zones.

Granada can be reached via the international airport of Malaga (2 hrs from Granada by public transport), the domestic airport of Granada, or by high-speed train. Granada offers a wide range of hotels and tourist accommodations. A number of shared rooms with full board for early-career researchers have been secured for a discount fee at Carmen de la Victoria.
You can expect warm and sunny weather around these days, but without the summer heat typical for July and August.

Registration Fees

Registration for the meeting will be about 325 €, which includes conference material, icebreaker, lunch and coffee breaks. Field trips are not included. The characteristics of the venue limit the number of participants to 65. In case of more interest, participants will be selected by the committee to assure a good mix of topics, personal backgrounds and career stages.
